Mission Statement
Thanks for choosing Boy Scouts for your son's growing experience. Our goal is to assist the boys in becoming everything the Scout Oath and Law describes in a Scout. The troop achieves these goals by the patrol method of leadership, leading by example and outdoor activities.
The troop is run by the boys. The patrol leaders, assistant patrol leaders and the other junior leaders of the troop meet semi-annually to decide on activities the troop will participate in. The Committee, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters provide the support to make the events happen. Supporting the boys means being able to assist them in planning the activity, communicating what needs to be done for the event, preparing the patrols and giving opinions when needed.
This leadership style works. It's hard as an adult to stand back and watch the dynamics play themselves out, but it's well worth it. Many of the adult leaders have watched the older scouts grow from indecisive young boys to young men who are planning their Eagle projects with the encouragement from the adult leaders. We stand in awe of what this scouting experience has done for them.
We are proud to have you in the troop. Please, if you have any questions about how the troop is organized, the special language we seem to possess, or anything else, let us know and we'll try and help you.
